Murder Most Fowl

We ran out of lunch chicken, so I was at the grill again this morning. It’s a never-ending story.

From chicken to geese, the ones in Foster City are temporarily off the hook.  The city is looking at non-lethal options, which will certainly disappoint #1, who is staunchly pro-geese death.

If you prefer your protein of the vegan type, there is always Beyond Meat.  I will never go near the stuff, and it looks like their COO got a little tired of it as well, as he decided to chomp on somebody’s nose.

Kim Kardashian is planning on going in another direction in her love life. She said in an interview “I think it’s gonna be, like, a scientist, neuroscientist, biochemist, doctor or attorney. That’s maybe what I envision". Yeah, that’s the ticket.  Does she even know what a neuroscientist is?

The Wig gave me a call yesterday.  I’m looking forward to seeing him and the Mrs. next month at SB1’s wedding, but I was a tad taken aback when he told me he had not read my epic seven day in a row blog stretch. I’m not in this for my health.  I need eyeballs.

It looks like dreamy walking tattoo Adam Levine is in a little trouble for some sexts.  Balloon 5 plans to remake one of their more famous hits.  It will be called She Will Be Loved, And So Will She, Her Too.

Jimmy Kimmel nailed the Trump/Hannity interview.  He said Hannity’s approach was basically "Show me on the doll where the FBI investigated you".  Kimmel also said “If Trump actually had the power to change things just by thinking about them, Don Jr. would have turned into a Big Mac 30 years ago”

To close, I’d like to emphatically say that I have never considered classifying my blog.  I never even thought about it.

PS

One might say I overlooked some major news earlier today, but I’m not sure that this would have fit in with a chicken-themed post.

We got the word this weekend that our little girl is getting married! She and her girlfriend Facetimed us to deliver the joyous news.  We are looking forward to a big bash up Portland way in the not-too-distant future.

Eat More Chicken Any Man Ever Seen

Turn it up to 11 and rip the knob off.

I just got the chicken breasts we use for our lunch salads off the grill.  It is one of my many duties here on Gull. We head to Monterey tomorrow to see SB1’s soon to be in-laws.  We’re bringing them a beer can chicken, which I currently have on the BBQ.  The wife is making her delish farro salad, so we’ll be providing a couple solid meals. Unfortunately, the distaff side of this couple suffered a fractured shoulder recently and we thought the chow would help.

So, if you were a curious reader, you might ask what we had for dinner last night. That’s right, chicken. My sister-in-law had given me this fab recipe months ago and I finally got around to making it. I was able to get around the firewall with a quick CTRL-P.

And if you were even curiouser, you’d inquire as to what is on the menu tonight. That would be Draeger’s chicken, mushroom and artichoke sausages, just like mom used to make.

OK, you’ve heard enough about food.  Did you see the rally Trump held in Wilkes-Barre? He seems to have some grievances. I know I’m a broken record, but they need to charge him, try him, and put him away. The scariest outliers in his base will likely cause some mayhem, but I can’t see a new civil war breaking out, as some pundits have discussed. I hope I’m right and they’re wrong.

In sunnier news, I had a decent day in my football pool yesterday. I’m currently 9-5. We have an MNF double header coming up.  I got the Bills in the first one.  In the second, I’m going against my Philly roots and picking the Vikings.

I saw this on Twitter yesterday. Fortunately, I’ve had the good sense to stay away from the product.

Picture This

I know that after yesterday’s post many of you are wanting additional Nick Cannon info, and I’m here to provide it.  The below article gives all the details you need about Nick’s kids and their totally normal names, although I could see Zillion Heir telling Nick in ten years, “Hey dad, why didn’t you give me a more common name, like Legendary Love?”

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/nick-cannon-kids-and-their-moms-200450303.html

I made my way to the posh club a little earlier than usual today.  It was an overall pleasant experience.  I got my own lane outdoors on a nice sunny day and took a soak in the hot tub after my swim. When I got to the locker room, one dude seemed to be quite enjoying himself, with a lot of oohs and aahs coming from his shower.  He was also working up quite a lather.  I think it was the fourth shower along.  I’m going to try that one next time.  And as I was leaving, just about at the front door, a middle-aged Asian woman at rushed me.  I stopped in my tracks, my mind flashing back to last night’s game as I readied myself for a big hit.  But she was just in a rush to meet her ride that had arrived and I’m still in one piece.

I’ve been retired for close to two years now, but this type of discord in the telecom industry still upsets me.  I wish they would just hug it out.

Lastly, here’s a picture especially for The UK.

Number Nine

I’m not referring to a Beatles tune here, although I wish I was. I read this morning that Nick Cannon just welcomed his ninth child.  Interestingly, he is waiting on #10 and #11, plus he just had one this summer as well.  He graced the July baby with the name Legendary Love, which won’t cause that kid to have to put up with any shit ever. I’m going to go out on a limb and say Nick has something wrong with him. He asked fans to pray for him and his entire family.  I pray he’ll consider a vasectomy.

I see the temperature highs are holding at around 100 degrees in Phoenix, so my favorite resident of that area, The Phoenix Flyboy, must be poking his head out once in a while. This tends to frighten the neighbors.  We’ve been in touch recently and plan to get together at one of his SFO stopovers.  We have not seen each for several years, so I’m sure both we’ll be shocked to see that neither of us has aged a day.

A far-right party in Germany had some gummies created that were supposed to look like their symbol, which is an arrow, but they managed to screw it up.  What you can conclude from this is that those fascist bastards have little dicks.

Pillowy Biscuits

Former crackhead and crackpot conspiracist Mike Lindell had his phone seized by the FBI at a Hardee’s. The restaurant then tweeted, “Now that you know we exist, you should really try our pillowy biscuits.”  Our most recent ex-president had a very measured response to this event, commenting on a weaponized police state and rigged elections. I’m wondering if he will have access to Truth Social in the slam.

One of Trump’s acolytes, Don Bolduc, won the Republican Senate primary in New Hampshire.  That bodes well for Senator Maggie Hasan, as even New Hampshire Republican governor calls Bolduc a “conspiracy-theory extremist”. Bolduc said “I signed a letter with 120 other generals and admirals saying that Donald Trump won the election and, damn it, I stand by it”. I’m bummed there are that many high-ranking military leaders drinking the Kool-Aid.

TNF should be a good one tomorrow night.  I’m going with the Chiefs.  Here’s the rest of my picks as well.

USPS

The wife and I were sending out post cards to get the vote out for November.  I went to the post office to get stamps.  Since there were three or four people in line, I decided to use the self-service kiosk.  Big mistake.  I ordered fifty stamps, and the machine printed them out, one by one. Next time I’ll get in line.

With Denver’s loss last night, I ended the week 6-10, which was good for a six-way tie for 38th place.  I plan to improve my position this coming week. You’ll get my picks tomorrow.

About now, I’m expecting to hear from those that receive the blog via email, asking me to take them off the list.

Jab Me

We’re heading to CVS in Target at Bridgepointe to get our third boost today.  That’s it.  That’s the post.

Oh, I kid.  There is so much excitement going on in my life, I could write reams. I currently stand 6-9 in my football pool, hoping for a Broncos win tonight to get me a tad closer to .500.  Ties are a loss in this pool.  How draconian!

I blanched when I saw a couple articles about a possible Megan Fox/Machine Gun Kelly breakup but I’m here to provide the good news.  They are still together.  Here’s a pic of the cute couple at Beyonce’s birthday party.  I’m sure you are as relieved as I am that all’s well.

Under Pressure

I was going to get back at you pushy bastards for demanding blog production by live blogging the entire 49ers game, but I didn’t have the stamina.  When I say pushy bastards, I mean one reader who has mentioned once or twice in the last month that he hadn’t seen any new posts. In any case, the Niners lost to the Bears in a wet one and I am 3-7 so far in my pool.

We had a good meal Wednesday with 4M and his wife at this joint. We had a gift certificate that defrayed some of the cost.  The food was good and reasonably priced, but I noticed they marked the wine up almost 3x over retail.  I used to 2x, but c’mon people. However we were quite happy to be able to mingle with Palo Alto society.

https://www.telefericbarcelona.com/

It was couples night on Friday here by the pergola. The #1s and the Hoteliers joined us for Mrs. Hotelier’s birthday.  Per my blog notes, I still don’t have a bar name for her.  I’m sure we’ll get that resolved shortly.  The wife and I went up to Peninsula Seafood that morning to get some salmon, which grilled up quite nicely.  We paired that with a new faro salad and some Backhaus bread for a tasty treat.  #1 got creative with a Greek bruschetta and the Hotelier never skimps in the wine category.

Have you ever heard of Dinner in White?  I must be a rube because I had not, but my good pal The Wig attended one in Richmond, VA last night.  He has always been several steps ahead of me.  I may need to organize one down at Gull Park.

Where Have I Been?

As I’ve been reminded a few times by #1, it has been a while since I’ve posted, a month and a day to be exact.  There’s been no shortage of things going on, just a lack of motivation.  I guess that makes sense when you are in retirement mode.

We had driveway cocktails at our house in mid-August and I wrote some notes on that, but never managed to get anything up here. One of the dudes that joined us thought I asked him “Are you Dennis?” I had to clarify with him that although we are not extremely close, after 20 or 30 these get-togethers and living near each other for 25 years, I’ve managed to remember his name.  And the other guy was busting my chops relentlessly.  Since he just had a hip replacement, I briefly thought about jumping him, but since I move about as well as he does in his current state, I thought the better of it. The food was good for this event, salads all the way around, taco, watermelon and shrimp.  We did the shrimp, which I grilled to perfection.

Our daughter has been around a lot recently, first for the Banker’s daughter’s bachelorette party and then for the wedding of one of her college hoops teammates. She’ll be back at the end of the month for another village wedding. During her first visit she suggested a ballgame, so we got to see Thairo Estrada’s first career walk-off homer to beat the Pirates.  Then the wife and I took in the Padres game on the last day of August, which we had planned a while ago.  We had primo seats but were in the sun. Mama Bear and Papa Bear then changed seats about five times until we had a good combo of shade, view and not taking someone else’s seats.  We left early to catch the train but did not miss much as the Giants lost.

As for village weddings, we went to the Banker’s daughter’s this past weekend and had a great time.  We got into San Diego Friday and checked into the Kona Kai, which was also the wedding venue. We were treated to a boat ride that evening with lots of good chow and drink and great views. I was going to try a Titanic picture pose but fortunately they roped off the bow.

The main event was Saturday at four.  We got to see the bride with her mom earlier when we were at the pool, and they were on their balcony.  The bride was beautiful, and her mom beamed proudly. It was a bit warm when the ceremony started but we got a good breeze. I teared up a bit as I usually do.  The officiant was one of the bride’s teammates from the Tufts hoops team and she did a great job.  This impressive couple has been together since those Tufts days.

After cocktails on the beach, we moved over to the dinner venue where a live band was rocking. I was behind the crowd during the first dance so could not see it too well live but caught the graceful steps a little later on video.  The speeches went well, with the Banker and his wife doing a great tag team job. I’m sure everyone enjoyed their meal as much as I did.  I heard there was an after party but I’m too old for such things.

There was a get together the next day at Mission Beach.  We wisely got there early as parking was at a premium.  I hopped into the water for a bit and then hung on the beach until it was time to say our goodbyes. As we left, we saw miles of traffic heading towards the beach, but we were off to my wife’s cousin’s house in Coronado. She graciously put us up until we flew out Tuesday.

Since I’ve disappointed my vast fan base by not posting in over a month, I am hereby committing to a daily post through Friday.  I hope I have the stamina to create a couple paragraphs daily, especially since my equanimity has been upended by all the drama surrounding Don’t Worry Darling.

Another NFL season is upon us so I will share my picks with you.  I am 0-1 after Buffalo took it to the Rams, but I’m hoping to bounce back tomorrow.
