Pigs, Goats and Elephants

That’s who I’m making my next utility check out to, as I understand that is how folks sometimes express their dismay.  We had a 27-hour power outage, the second extended one this year.  They told me they had a crew dispatched Sunday afternoon, which was complete bullshit because we didn’t see one until after 6pm and the damn power finally went back on 10am on Labor Day.  The wife and I cleaned out the freezer and fridge today.  A boatload of meat and fish had partially thawed so PG&E will be getting the bill for that.  Take that, you monopolists!
Speaking of writing checks, back in college The Wig, Dr. Joe and I were pissed at our landlord for some reason, so we took aggressive action.  His first name was Norman so we made the rent checks out to Normon, Normin and Normen.  We lived on the edge.
It was hotter than hell this past weekend.  My wife said she felt like we were back in Seville.  We went to Serramonte Saturday to get some dresses, one for me and a couple for the wife.  We also thought we could soak up some AC.  After that we ventured to Pacifica, only to make a U-turn at Pedro Point when we saw the crowds.  Then it was off to lovely West Portal for a beer and some Indian chow.
It seems to me that Trumpy had a less outrageous week than usual.  Of course, recent DACA dopiness and NK rantings negated that, but for most of the week I think he was upstaged by Harvey, including his clueless trip to Texas.  I got no comment on Melania’s stilettos. But as much as I hate to admit it, The Prez and I have some things in common.  For example, we are both real estate magnates. That Gull Project deal I did in ’94 put me over the top.  But I never took any Russian dough, just good old U.S. banks and some side financing from a shadowy figure from Queens who runs JEL Inc.
I went for a swim last week and there was a guy walking around the pool with his phone on speaker yakking into it the whole time.  As I passed him he was saying they had to be at The Magic Kingdom at 8am for the VIP tour.  I’ve always thought of The Magic Kingdom as a more egalitarian place.  Regardless, I would rather be sipping coffee in my house at 8am as opposed to being there.
I’ve been listening to The Grass Roots Channel on Pandora, which includes some Gary Puckett and The Union Gap.  I’ve often thought of starting a Gary Puckett and The Union Gap tribute band.  I would be the lead singer.

Next time you heard somebody say, “That’s my jam”, send them to my blog.
