Slack Attack

Although unlikely, you may have been wondering what DJ has been up to lately. It involves a lot of slacking. I was going to slap up a police blotter review last weekend, but I was uninspired. I'll save it for next weekend when I'm slightly less uninspired.

Wifey and I are enjoying our new kitchen. We had my siblings over last night to show it off. More on that later.

Last Friday night we invited #1 and Unc over. What do these two have in common? Besides for their deep esteem for me, they are both quite handy. And we had a 60" TV that needed to be mounted on the wall. But hey, don't accuse me of using my friends. It was my wife's idea. And we provided adult beverages and fed them A-1 Thai from Sweet Basil.

We had #1 and some others from the FC posse over a few days later for the Niners game. The Exec decided to invite a member of his congregation over. We welcomed her with open arms when we saw she was carrying a bottle of Bushmills. It was quite exciting, albeit ultimately disappointing. We even caught the Richard Sherman interview. I sense he is a calming influence in the locker room. GO BRONCOS!!

It will be March Madness soon enough. You can try your hand at this.

As I mentioned on my FB page, things are looking up for Jamie Dimon

He is one of the "great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money."

You find that quote at the beginning of this article.

And if you are not sufficiently pissed after reading that, catch "Park Avenue: Money, Power and the American Dream" on Netflix.

Speaking of Netflix, last night my bro gave me a new show to binge watch. I'm stoked that "Justified" is back but having to wait a full week for a new episode can be trying. Bro talked up "The Shield" , comparing it in quality to "Breaking Bad"

We kicked it off last night's soiree with Martinis and Manhattans and then dove into my Osso Buco and my sister's signature salad.. Everyone agreed is was excellent. We wrapped it up with my brother's contribution, a Just Desserts carrot cake. I think I'll grab a slice after this tome. The Osso Buco is not hard to make, so get off your ass and get to it.

My brother also mentioned that he is, as he approaches 59, the same weight he was when he was 18. I told him so was I, at least at those times when I was 18 and giving one of the neighborhood kids a piggy back ride.

I received a package from The Wolv the other day. Besides for some great 80's pics, it held an artifact. It was the very same copy of "Blood On The Tracks" that I referenced on my 2/10/09 and 3/30/13 posts. I'll be framing it. Thanks Wolv!!

And now for something completely different. Have you ever heard the Arctic Monkeys song "Do I Want To Know". The singer references "spilling drinks on my settee" . I wonder if all alt rockers have settees.

Time For A Blog Post In FC

Got it

It looks like Chris Christie's presidential ambitions may be crispy. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Chances are, if you have to say "I am not a bully", you're a bully.

I'm a little pissed at my buds. I was trying to do them a solid. I sent them an email to let them know that one of them may have left their Hello Kitty water bottle at the posh club and all I got back was one snarky response. No good deed goes unpunished. While I was there, I was going to take a steam but I couldn't because there was a Politburo session taking place.

I started watching a riveting episode of Big Rig Bounty Hunters this morning but had to head out to the BART station so I taped it and will encapsulate it for you at a future date. Today is No Pants Subway Ride Day. I just back from round trip between Millbrae and Embarcadero in my Calvin Klein boxer briefs. Now it's time to go watch the Niners on tape delay. It allows me to fast forward through commercials and other annoyances. My time is valuable.

The Year In Review

Not really. Maybe the last month or so. Or maybe I'll just babble about pop culture.

Rumor has it that The Biebs and Selena Gomez may be back together. I am at a loss for words.

People are leaving upstate NY. I started the trend 30 years ago.

I hate it when my five spice donkey meat is tainted with fox meat.

OK, this is not really what you signed up for. You want to know what is going on with DJ. This is understandable.

The kitchen is done. There's a few tweeks left but the days of garage cooking are over. Thanks to #1 for the use of his camp stove.

We hosted a dinner for 22 on Christmas Eve for the 60th birthday of The Exec. The boys put together a fisherman's stew and a pasta puttanesca for the Festa dei Sette Pesci. My kids were all home and we had the families of The Numbers, The Exec, The Hotelier and TCG for a blowout replete with video to commemorate the big 6 Oh. The martinis and vino flowed freely, the food was primo and we called it a wrap shortly before midnight.

Christmas day it was off to DC for SB1 while the daughter, wife and I flew to San Diego. We stayed at the house of my dear mother-in-law for the last time. She'll be moving into retirement community shortly. We all helped with the downsizing. My main contribution was accepting a fine Italian dining room table to replace the junker we've been using for 20 years.

We had a savory ham dinner Christmas day and the next day we recycled the ham during a family reunion. The age range at that event was from 6 months to the early 80s. My wife got a lot of good pics and all were of good cheer.

Now I'm back in the FC and back at work. So begins 2014.
