Bank Holiday

Hello People

I'm slightly sleep deprived - only 7 hours whereas I prefer 8 to 9 - but as you know, I have re-embraced the SLA. So here I am.

The reason I'm sleep deprived is that I was at the 50th birthday party for The Banker's wife last night. They are the penultimate FC couple hitting that milestone. The Belgians reach that mark next year.

There was a lively crew at the event last night, which was held at Kingfish in San Mateo. The chow was great, including sliders, chicken skewers and pizza. I was well stuffed but I believe I left enough for everyone else. And one of the featured wines was a Rosenblum Zin, always a fine choice.

We rode with the #1s there and back. The cab company sent an Expedition to pick us up. It had enough room for the easel we brought for the traditional village birthday spoof. We had a town car bring us home. #1 wanted to try his new Uber app. It worked well.

We had a great DJ so the dance floor was always packed. Most of the women were dancing up a storm. I cut a rug briefly but I'm not as light on my feet as I used to be.

I could tell Mrs. Banker had a great time, surrounded by good friends and family, including her 89 year old mother and her daughter that flew in from school in Boston especially for the occasion. The village pitched in with their own version of Family Feud. The uber-prepared #1 had already polled the crowd via SurveyMonkey and also created all the presentation materials. He ran the show with the help of my wife. She was Vanna to his Richard Dawson. I was allegedly the scorekeeper but my main job, which I relished, was to blow the air horn on each incorrect response. The women won, the men thought it was rigged, and I don't care.

Happy B Day Mrs. B

Marginalia

I got a bunch of hits from Scranton around 3:30am. Thanks for being on the show today. Who the hell are you?

Hey, did you hear about the iPhone 5 release yesterday? Gosh, I could not give less of a shit.

It turns out Nicki Minaj is not endorsing Mitt after all. I bet he's disappointed. He really stepped in it with his Libya comments. Does he think before he talks? DJ says he'll be going down on November 6.

Will.i.am will be a guest mentor on X Factor. He'll be giving seminars on the use of auto-tune and how to make it in the music business with minimal talent.

Who the hell came up with the flavored vodka idea? I would never buy them but can understand, to a certain extent, adding citrus flavors. Smirnoff has recently introduced these two flavors: whipped cream and fluffed marshmallow. That is against the laws of God and man.

I'm psyched. QE3 is on.

How do you guys feel about the new, old SLA? Great, isn't it?!

The Pressure

I'm heading to Tahoe tomorrow with the numbers but with this renewed commitment to the SLA, I gotta post before I blow out of town. I don't blog well in the mountains. And I still have to pack and watch some of the DNC. I don't expect to see anybody talking to empty chairs tonight.

I'm a little concerned about leaving my wife for several days. I usually do the grocery shopping but she'll probably have to take over that duty. For example, she buys vegetables sometimes. She doesn't necessarily have any plan, such as cooking and consuming them. That is usually left to me. She buys them because they look cute at the farmer's market stalls.

She is good, however, at adding interesting things to the shopping list. I came across this a few months back: Good Earth Tea Chia. I was confused. Did she want Chai Tea? Or was there new Chia Pet named "Good Earth Tea"?

I can write these things because I will be hundreds of miles away and it is unlikely that she'll check the blog any time soon.

I caught this article last month. It details the inclination of the Argentines towards psychoanalysis. It gave several reasons, but I get the feeling, deep down, all they really want is to be more like the Chileans.
