Contiguous

So you say to yourself, the chucklehead doesn’t post for three weeks and then gives us a 1-2 punch.  People, you cannot rush brilliance.  I also wanted to have additional material for our blog study group at Ben Tre tonight.

Trump talking about how intelligent he is brought to mind the confrontational scene between Fredo and Michael in Godfather II, in which Fredo claimed “I’m smart too”.  Fredo and Donald are both  pathetic characters.  But I do have a new hero: Phil Mudd

I have a haircut this afternoon.  I’m bringing this picture to see if she can work some magic.

Southend-on-Sea

I have been getting a boatload of hits from Southend-on-Sea, UK.  I mean dozens since Friday.  In other words, more than I usually get in a month.  Unless it’s a bot, I have a new fan.  My first au pair lives in the UK, but about 3 hours from there.  Plus she’s pretty bright so it is unlikely she’s reading my drivel.
We had my brother and sister over this past Saturday.  LA brought the primo Pinot and I made Bocconcini di Pollo con Patate e Salsicce, which I hadn’t cooked since the kids were home.  It was hit and supplied another meal this week.  Let me know if you want the recipe.
I found out today that Kid Rock will not be running for the Senate after all.  He clarified it with a few F bombs.  I know that The Wolv and a majority of Michiganders that live in trailer parks will be gravely disappointed. I’ve always viewed him as statesmanlike.
The NYT shared this headline yesterday: "China Enshrines ‘Xi Jinping Thought,’ Elevating Leader to Mao-Like Status".  I made a witty crack on FB about thought leadership, but got no likes.  Maybe it wasn’t that witty. I’ve already made my feelings known about that term.
#1 and family made a trip to Vietnam from their Singapore home base recently.  In the travel spirit, some of the remaining village boys are going to get together at Ben Tre tomorrow night for a blog study group and excellent chow.
Did you catch the Flake show yesterday?  I like the fact that he bad mouthed the prez but hopefully he can do more in his two remaining years to neutralize the loon.  I think that would entail not voting Trump’s way 90% of the time.

RIP Fats

Hypocrisy Rules

Waking up the other day to the news that a madman shot hundreds of people in Vegas led to the same frustration that I and millions of others feel every time this happens.  The talking heads on Fox and the Republicans say this is not the time to politicize the issue and the NRA goes dark.  They are talking about banning bump stocks today.  Why stop there?  If the thing can shoot more than 1 bullet at a time, ban it.  Ban the handguns.  Hunters can still hunt and you can keep a rifle in your house for protection, if you think that is a good idea.  As the FB post I read this morning said, it is time to stop applying 18th century laws to a 21st century problem.  Australia did what they needed to do in 12 days after their last mass shooting.  The buffoons in Congress will do nothing of the sort.
Now we can move on the usual DJ’s Detritus drollery.  The Wig reminded me I hadn’t posted for a month.  I reminded him to get off my case.  That’s #1’s job.  Wig’s SB2 just got offered a good Google gig so we’ll have the guy back in the Bay Area starting next year.
The Orange Duce was getting into it with NBA and NFL players before he turned on the mayor of San Juan.  Then he went to Puerto Rico to toss paper towels.  I think I agree with his Secretary of State, who will probably not be around much longer. As a comment said in one of the articles I read recently, “Hurry up Mueller”.
Besides for a lot of Kardashian pregnancies, I have not been paying too much attention to celebrity news.  I apologize for that and will try to do better on my next post.  It may be because I have been focused on fantasy football as well as my other NFL pool. I am happy to announce that I am tied for first place among 42 players.  We’ll see how long that lasts.
