SB2

We recently lost our beloved Nick.  He passed away in his sleep on Friday, February 1.  We are heartbroken but so very grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone.

We had a beautiful memorial for him last Sunday at the Pomeroy Center, where he spent many happy days during the last several years.  My brother-in-law did an incredible job running the ceremony and we heard tributes to Nick from friends and my older son, daughter and wife.  I’m so grateful to my family for sharing their memories, something I do not think I could have done at that time.  The tears still flowed at random times throughout my days this week, as I expect they will for a while.

However, we all have our memories to hold onto as we move forward. As with everyone, I have regrets in this life, but I am very proud of the life my family and I gave Nick.  The Exec stated during the memorial that he never once saw any of us become annoyed with Nick, regardless of the demands he may have put on us.  I was deeply touched by that and realize that there will never be anything more important in my life than being a father to Nick and his siblings.

Nick liked a good laugh, so he’d want me to continue the blog in my usual manner.  Humor might be harder to come by for the time being, but I’ll give it a shot.
