Insurrection PowerPoint?

Now that I’ve cranked out the main draft of the Xmas letter, I can turn my attention to blogging.  I sent it to the kids and their partners to see if anything is especially embarrassing, but I’ve not heard back yet.

During a recent video call with the boys, I got a hard time from #2 about my lack of recent posts.  I was shocked.  Not by his audacity, but by the fact that he reads it.  I then remembered that he is one of the ten lucky folks that gets it via email. I had to remind him that it is #1’s job to give me shit about my blog.

I wrote to Unc and The Wolv about getting our NOLA trip back on track, but I think we may have to push it again due to Omicron.  We might get it done in 2023.  Hopefully the pandemic will be over then, but I fear the sad state of our politics will remain.  The Wolv summed it up well when he shared his concern about "getting hijacked to Mar A Lago by some drunk ass redneck anti maskers with ghost guns they made in their gramma's basement because freedom".  Sadly, the national dialogue is up in smoke like the Fox Christmas tree.  Maybe I’ll work on a PowerPoint that can detail how we can put Humpty Dumpty back together again.  Step one is putting Trump and his cabal in the slam.

I saw the news that Mike Nesmith passed away yesterday.  I’ve always loved his song Different Drum.  The first album I ever bought was this one.

We recently got back from a trip to Isla Holbox, Mexico with #1 and Barbie.  We flew into Cancun, then had a two-hour drive to a ferry that took us over. Except for a few delivery trucks, everyone gets around the island on golf carts.  We checked into Casa Tortugas, a boutique hotel right on the beach.  They have three restaurants, all of which have excellent chow.  We also took advantage of several of the other eateries in town.  Four of us had dinner one night at a local taqueria for $35, tip included.  We rented a golf cart one day, but I had to bail out after about a half hour, as the bumpiness was getting to me. The rest of the time we laid around sipping drinks and looking at the sunset.

So, who are you folks spending the holidays with, your family or your loved ones?  I stole that one from the radio.

I’m toast in my NFL pool, now tied for 35th and 0-1 for the week.  Here’s the rest of my picks for week 14.  Go for the dough and bet against me.
