I Got Nudged

JB and #1 recently reminded me that I’ve been a slacker vis-à-vis the blog. I’m just grateful that somebody wants to read this stuff.

Per the latest news, it looks like we’ve been liberated from Liberation Day.  In one of the headlines I saw with today’s coffee, Trump was crowing that he knew what he was doing. Then I grab lunch and see he has paused all but the Jina tariffs. Does that make you feel like he possibly doesn’t know what he’s doing? He said he did it because people were getting “yippy” and “afraid”.  I always get yippy when 10% of my net worth goes down the shitter. I also saw that putz Lutnick was trying to take credit for the pause, after he enthusiastically helped Trump roll the tariffs out.

I’m sure Peter Navarro is disappointed about the pause, but at least it will make Elon happy, which is important to me.  Those two have been going at each other lately.  Musk called Navarro a moron and “Peter Retarrdo”. Elon is such an empath. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt chimed in from Fantasy Island on the brouhaha, stating “Boys will be boys, and we will let their public sparring continue, and you guys should all be very grateful that we have the most transparent administration in history.” Lastly, I must have missed this, but Peter Navarro had cited a Harvard economist named Ron Vara back in 2019. It turns out this fictive figure was an anagram of his name.

It looks like a few Republicans, like Rand Paul, are making a peep and not marching completely in lockstep with Trump. My fervent hope is that this whisper will become a scream before the end of the year.  I can dream. It was also nice to see Megyn Kelly ripping ICE Barbie, seen here aiming at a colleague’s head.

Well, that is entirely enough politics, isn’t it.  I’m sure you’d rather hear about my most recent restaurant meal.  Or the NCAA finals.  So who’s the big dog? DJ’s the big dog, taking the Yahoo tourney with 161 points.  I predicted the Florida vs. Houston final and the FL victory.  Few people know what a huge Gator fan I am.  I’ll be one until I choose the winner in next year’s tourney. Even more rewarding, for both The Wolv and I, was seeing Duke get punched in the throat in the Final Four. Tricky Dick’s law school alma mater folded like a cheap suit.

So, what else is up in the life and times of DJ? I’m keeping up my active senior lifestyle with my daily walk.  I was out last week when the rain started coming down, but fortunately I was by the bathrooms at Gull Park, so I took shelter there. I generally don’t lurk by men’s rooms, but I had just done my hair.

This weekend we flew up to Portland to see the girl.  We had great weather on Friday and Saturday. We saw a lot of hoops and were treated to dinner at Serrato.  This is the same place we had a pre-wedding family dinner in June which my wife had to miss because of COVID.  I rubbed that in relentlessly.  On Sunday we did a Pinot tasting at Rex Hill. I also discussed music my daughter, admitting I liked some Chappell Roan and Ariana Grande stuff. After the Wolv reads this, he’ll hate me as well as Duke. I did tell her I didn’t get Sabrina Carpenter. As best I can see, she comes out in her underwear and whispers into the mic.  Maybe I should try that.
