Graduation Day
We
head to San Diego tomorrow to see my daughter walk at UCSD, 8am
Sunday morning. She and her brother both managed to knock it off in
four years. I can't say the same.
It
is that time of year. I got a pic from The Wolv with his wife and
son at his SB1's high school graduation. As with my situation, the
boy towers over him. As it should be. While our time is not
entirely in the past, theirs is all ahead of them.
The
village has four young women graduating from college this year.
Besides for me, The Banker, The Belgian and The Hotelier have grads,
the latter two this Sunday as well. What a crew of good kids! We
celebrated at The Banker's house Sunday along with many friends. At
5pm attention turned to the Warrior's game. This is a basketball
family after all. Father and son were serious hoopsters and the
daughter was a Tufts guard who played in the NCAA tournament
semifinals this year.
There's
been a lot of sports news lately, even besides for the NBA and NHL
playoffs. Along with many other Bay Area folk, I'm in full
frontrunner mode cheering for the Warriors. In the negative column,
Brandon Spikes left his Maybach on the highway and Tiger shot an 85,
his worst. I'd like to see things start going Tiger's way for once.
Oh, and Olbermann wants Hope Solo suspended. I liked Olbermann when
he was ranting about the Bush administration on MSNBC, but have paid
little attention to him since.
There
is a cleric in Pakistan who is blaming earthquakes and other
disasters on women wearing jeans there. Perhaps they are giving him
an earthquake in his pants.
A
truck carrying 2.200 piglets crashed in Ohio recently, killing some
of the critters and sending the rest scattering Some made it to the
woods and will become part of the feral pig population. Luckily for
the escapees, there are probably not any chimps in the Ohio woods,
because they apparently know how to cook.
There
has been quite the hullabaloo regarding Caitlyn Jenner lately. I saw
they were trying to take away her Olympic Medal. I'm not sure what
the rationale for that is. And people were pissed that Jenner was
selected over Lauren Hill for the ESPY Courage award. I can
understand that one.
A
while back I saw an article about a dad who spent $39,000 on a
birthday party for a three year old. That could be considered
excessive. With cake, balloons and party favors, I'd be surprised if I
ever spent $39 on one of my kid's birthdays. Maybe that's why they
are pissed at me.
Some
experts are blaming dating apps for the rise in STDs. I'm glad these
weren't around when I was in college. That plus the fact that women
frightened me kept me safe.
