Person of Interest
Being a
rugged individual, I head out to the posh club most mornings around 7am to do
my 12 laps in the pool, rain or shine. Thursday
the hot water was out, so I had to take a cold shower. It was not so bad, because it took my mind
off Trump news.
Trumpy is
off to Saudi Arabia. Ivanka and Jared are going with him, as they got rabbinical
dispensation to fly on the Sabbath. What
happens if they are denied? Find another
rabbi. I understand that Trump will still be able to get his well-done steak
with ketchup during his sojourn. That
will keep him centered and directed. I’m sure that his rants about a Muslim ban
won’t come up.
It appears
that Jared is a person of interest in the Russia investigation. I know that Trump would look good in orange
because it would match his face, but it might not be fashion forward for the
boyish Jared.
The I
word is being bandied about. We are in
for a slog but I’m sure this will be a truncated presidency. President Pence
does not sound good at all, but there might be some semblance of rationality. Unless he gets caught up in this whole mess. Then we get President Eddie Munster.
Let’s
talk about fun stuff. It was a family
weekend in Sonoma at the beginning of May.
My siblings and their significant others joined my wife, daughter and I
for my 60th birthday celebration.
We had a food tour that Friday afternoon and an excellent dinner at the
El Dorado Kitchen. I had stopped in at The Girl and The Fig first to see if I
could get a table without a reservation.
They said in “about two hours”.
I said, “don’t you know who I am?”.
The
siblings came up Saturday. We lunched at
the Depot Hotel, which is where the food tour kicked off. It was very good. We sipped a bit of champagne then headed out
to taste wine. Ravenswood was the first
stop. They specialize in Zins, which is
my fave. LA bought me a four pack. I have two left. Molto grazie! After that we stopped at Imagery Winery, since
the one we were going to go to was having a “special event”. I thought that might be my birthday but I was
mistaken.
Dinner
was at the Glen Ellen Inn. The served up
some big drinks and good grub. I had a
perfect Vesper and my bud The Exec sent me a bottle of Ridge Pagani Ranch
Zinfandel. I sent him a text asking if
that was the best he could do. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
My girls
and I wrapped up the weekend at the El Dorado Kitchen for brunch on
Sunday. Two for two at that joint.
We were
supposed to head back up to Sonoma today for the Sonoma State graduation of the
son of one of my wife’s best friends. We
had to cancel out of that because unfortunately the grad’s mom got the
flu. We are wishing her a speedy
recovery for tomorrow’s ceremony. I’ll
have to tuck away the phrase “Sonoma State is no Binghamton” for another day.

Pretty much anywhere is no Binghamton.
