501
My last
post, which #1 has reminded me was almost a month ago, was a momentous one,
although I was reluctant to call it out, as I am a reserved blogger. It was my 500th post, which will
clue you in to today’s title.
#1 reminded
me of my recent slackness on this weekend’s trip to Vegas. He and his wife kindly invited us to stay at
their time share at Elara. I did a Starbucks run and we ordered breakfast in
every morning. It has come to be that my
wife expects a latte delivered to her bedside every time we are in a
hotel. The next time she gets pissed at
me, I will simply respond with “hotel lattes”.
We had
quite the time. We toured the Miracle
Mile as well as downtown, where we encountered our share of Trump
supporters. My wife and I deposited $100
at the blackjack tables at The D while the #1s played the vintage slots and
other games upstairs. We stepped out to
the Fremont St. freak show afterwards.
The
evenings were occupied by shows and dinners.
Friday was Cirque de Soleil’s Love and Bouchon. Saturday was Elton John and Mesa Grill. The year’s entertainment budget has been blown. We’ll team up with the #1s again for
Thanksgiving and then a Mexican wedding in December. After the wedding, we head down to Puerto
Vallarta, with the Hotelier and family in tow.
They are the parents of the groom.
In
matters of national importance, the long con is almost over. It is my fervent hope that the Orange Monster
will be vanquished Tuesday. But neither
candidate is perfect, which is nicely detailed here.
This week
at work my boss told me to follow up with a colleague via IM, voice mail AND
email. I responded “too bad she doesn’t
have Skype”. I thought this rather witty
and let my friend 4M know. He sent me
the link to the CA unemployment department.
I stayed
up past my bedtime last night to watch the Cubbies take it. It was worth it.
