Happy Thanksgiving
I’ve been slacking in the blog department. I’ve written down a few ideas but have not
managed them into any coherent message.
One might ask how this is different from any of my other posts.
Today is Turkey Day. I got up at 6:38, which is sleeping in for me. The posh club is open from 8-1 today, so I’ll probably head over there for a swim before I start helping my wife put together the feast. We’re having the Execs for dinner along with #1’s niece. The #1s are off to Amsterdam today, where they will join their SB1 and his beloved.
This will be our first Thanksgiving at home in
several years. We had celebrated many
with the #1s before the girl headed off to college. During her hoops career at UCSD, there was
always a Thanksgiving tournament, so we were down there during this time. Now my Carlsbad based mother-in-law has
joined us up here. After dinner today, I’ll
ask the girl to drive her to the airport.
I believe her flight is Monday morning.
There’s been a surfeit of celeb news
recently. By recently, I mean the last
70 years or so. Sofía Vergara got
married to my look alike Joe Manganiello last weekend. Unlike Tyga and Kylie, it is my fervent hope
they will grow old together. I also saw that Kate Beckinsale is getting
divorced. I wish there was some way I
could comfort her.
I’m heading to Austin in April with my boys Unc
and Wolv. We decided on it as a halfway
point, as the Wolv lives in Boston. I
realized during the planning for this event that Boston and Austin rhyme. Very little gets past me. We’ll be renting a condo downtown. The plan is to eat BBQ, listen to music and
laze about. I’ve even started thinking about the next reunion. New Orleans might be a good choice for that,
although I’ll be staying away from Commander’s Palace, where I got a case of
food poisoning the last time around.
Would you like to hear about a recent trip to
the Foster City Farmer’s Market? Why
not. They have a good one every Saturday
so I make an appearance when it first opens at 9. Everything was going swimmingly until I went
to get a couple pastries. I waited for a
while as an older woman was discussing her potential bread purchase with the
cashier. They were speaking in a foreign
language so I cannot report out on what exactly they were discussing, but they
were discussing it at length. The old
lady was cradling the loaf like a lap dog, petting it once or twice. She was told the price in English but there
was absolutely no effort on her part to actually produce some cash. This went on for a while until I decided to
place my order, which I paid for immediately with exact change. The world is full of the clueless.
On my 7/16/11 post I informed you about some
Pastafarian news. Further strides have
been made in their legal rights.
I shared this article with some my FC boys so I thought I'd pass it along to you in closing. I particularly like the description of Trump as a "distended bladder of anger and Chex Mix"
